GEO for SaaS companies
"What is a good alternative to X?" is the most expensive question in SaaS. The answer holds three names, and you are one of them or you are not.
In short
- SaaS questions to AI come in three kinds. Comparison (A vs B), alternative (an alternative to X) and fit (which tool suits this situation).
- For all three, the deciding sources are not your own pages but external ones. Review platforms, comparison articles and community posts.
- Integrations are the strongest visibility signal in SaaS, and companies underuse them. A model that processes "tool with a HubSpot integration" looks for exactly that combination.
- Pricing on your site raises the chance of being named for cost questions. If you do not mention a single amount, you drop out of that answer.
- Every month we measure your comparison and alternative questions and track which sources the engine uses for them.
The three types of question
Comparison
"What is the difference between X and Y?" Models almost always answer this from third-party comparison articles, not from the product pages of either company. If you appear in no comparison article, you do not exist for this type of question.
Alternative
"What is a good alternative to X?" This is the most valuable question in SaaS, because the buyer is already unhappy. The answer comes from lists and review platforms. You get there through your presence on those sources and through an honest comparison page of your own.
Fit
"Which tool suits a team of fifteen on Salesforce?" Concrete properties win here. Integrations, team sizes, prices, languages, hosting location, compliance. Each of those properties has to appear somewhere as plain text.
What we change for SaaS
One integration page per connection that matters
Not a wall of logos, but a page for each important integration that says exactly what syncs and who it helps. In SaaS this is the cheapest visibility gain there is.
An honest comparison page
Including the cases in which a competitor fits better. Models quote nuanced comparisons sooner than pages that only show their own side, and your buyer sees through those anyway.
Pricing, or at least a range
Price questions are a large share of the volume. "Contact us for a quote" is not an answer a model can use.
Review platforms and communities
The places where your buyers leave their verdict are the same places the model takes its verdict from. We start with the sources that are already quoted today for your alternative question.

Questions from SaaS companies
Should we mention our competitors on our own site?
For comparison and alternative questions that is the fastest route, yes. An honest comparison page that also says when a competitor fits better gets quoted sooner than a page that only lists your own strengths. The risk of giving away a client is smaller than the risk of dropping out of the answer.
We deliberately show no prices. Is that a problem?
For price-related questions it is. A model that gets a cost question uses the sources that mention an amount. A range or a starting price is often enough to get into the answer without giving up your negotiating position.
We are a new product. Does GEO make sense yet?
Yes, but the starting point is different. For a new product the focus is first on fit questions, where properties weigh more than brand awareness, and on presence on review platforms. The alternative question comes later, once there are enough external sources that name you.
Are you on the list of alternatives?
We put the comparison and alternative questions from your category to several engines and show you which sources decide the answer.
